We planted our summer garden!

Last year we took up "urban" gardening -- it was a blast! Each kid chose, planted, and tended to their choice of vegetable. (Although you can see from the pictures that Josh was less than excited about the results of his plant! LOL) We were genuinely surprised at how easy it was and how much crop we got from our little 8x12 patch.

This year we attempted to grow some plants from seed. Noah chose a cucumber (like last year), Josh chose to grow basil (big pesto fan), and Matt chose to grow.....um...sunflowers. Mommy chose to plant cilantro for summer salsa - YUM!

I'm pleased to announce that our seeds did indeed grow, and we planted our garden last weekend! In addition to what we grew ourselves, I bought the rest of my plants from Brenckle's nursery. I'm attaching their website below because it's VERY cool! You can actually go on their site and make up a "planting list", complete with pictures and information about the plants you purchase. I find their veggie plants very healthy and not too expensive....plus it's really kind of relaxing just to walk around the place and see all that they have (the flowers are BEAUTIFUL!)

From Brenckle's, we bought 6 tomato plants (including grape size and an heirloom yellow), red and green bell peppers, rosemary, mint, lettuce, and zucchini. The place is great -- check it out!
